USCIS has a process for those who can't afford the application fees - the details on how to obtain this waiver are at the bottom of this comment but back to the question, I'm wondering if the donations go towards directly paying for the fees or for the service of the organizations that could probably fill out the waiver for the applicant. Because there is no transparency on this, I don't feel comfortable donating.
